Review
This edition is very important, not only to underline Pilar de Zubiaurre's work in the development of Spanish culture and defense of the Republican ideals in exile, but also for the study of epistolary literature, a genre considered secondary until the end of the 20th century. This edition is also fundamental to study the very important role that women played in the dissemination of news and communication between the exile communities and Spain. In a moment when transnationalism is considered a critical topic in the study of literature and culture, Zubiaurre's collection of letters is essential to apprehend the ties between Europe, the United States and Latin America in the 20th century. ANALES DE LA LITERATURA ESPANOLA CONTEMPORNEA This book is a brilliant contribution to the rescue of the recent historical memory, as well as a good addition to the field of Spanish Republican culture and exile. Not only does the book recover an intellectual figure but it also expands the knowledge of a period, a generation, and a genre: women's letters. LABERINTOS: REVISTA DE ESTUDIOS SOBRE LOS EXILIOS CULTURALES ESPANOLES

In Zubiaurre's epistolary correspondence, the letters that she received from other exiled women such as Zenobia Camprubi and Maria Martos de Baeza stand out due to their intensity and length because they show the richness of a parallel relationship between exiled women, fundamental to maintain the memory of the Spanish Republic and establish new links with the interior exile and the exiles in other American countries. . . . Many of these letters are moving because they express so well the exile's misfortune. . . . A great contribution to the knowledge of the hidden details of a fundamental period of the Spanish culture. A map of maps, private and collective.
